Why Petta's body had not decayed much following burial has never been explained. Buccola and Julia's husband, Matthew, who remarried around the time of the disinterment it's notable that Julia's married name appears nowhere on the monument, nor that of her stillborn child (though the name of her mother, who is buried nearby, appears twice).
